Justine and Sammie’s wedding was everything a same sex destination wedding in Greece should be: heartfelt, centred around family, and relishing in relaxed Mediterranean elegance. From the very beginning of our conversations back in the cold winter months, (yes, I still work away at my wedding planning business in the winter months! This is the prime time that I am able to begin all the organisations for my summer weddings - so the winter months are filled with phone calls with my brides and grooms, and coordianting emails with my trusted vendors. No rest for the wicked!) I knew that the love between these two women and their beautiful blended family together was one to be celebrated in the most beautiful way. Luckily for them, as a wedding planner based here in Corfu, Greece, I knew exactly how to bring together an entirely female-led wedding team to do their special day the justice it deserved - a request that Sammie & Justine had asked me personally for themselves, being two brides.

Our lovely brides wanted their wedding to feel personal and thoughtfully designed, and straight off the bat we knew we were the perfect match to make their dream day a reality. With their children at the heart of every decision, we encouraged them to remain on the hotel grounds for their special day, which not only created a sense of ease for the whole family, and allowed them to stay comfortably within budget — but it meant that they could really make the most of the incredible sea views and the variety of backdrops of Mitsis Messonghi Beach Hotel. It’s an ideal venue for couples planning an intimate destination wedding in Greece, especially those travelling with family and any cheeky little monkeys!!

Now, April weather can be a bit finicky sometimes here in Corfu, however the heavens were shining down on us, as was the glorious golden Corfiot sunshine for their ceremony! The private beach was bathed in hot, golden summer sunshine, and the Ionian Sea — that magnificent expanse of sparkling sapphire — made the most incredible natural backdrop. It felt like the universe was cheering them on! For the ceremony itself we carefully set up the chairs and our famous carpet was laid out close to the sea, exactly as they had envisioned, to perfectly frame the moment for their 15 guests. Talk about intimate!! Only their nearest and dearest were present to witness such magical moments.

The flowers are always such a huge part of any wedding, and as awlays, our highly recommended florists did not disappoint. We suggested and arranged a palette inspired by traditional Greek elements, incorporating white roses, olive branches, and eucalyptus, all arranged beautifully in two large white vases resting on elegant white columns; a beautiful, organic touch that really spoke to Grecian elegance. We organised the florals in full, ensuring a cohesive flow between the ceremony and reception spaces.

We happily recommended our good ol bunny on speed JessyMayPhotography to capture this day - a photographer whose style aligned perfectly with the tone of the day. Capturing moments naturally, authentically, and with sensitivity and warmth, and fully LGBTQ supportive, Jess was the perfect addition to our all female team to capture these moments.

Once the ceremony ended, and Jess took our couple off for some romantic portraits, the team then began arranging everything for the reception. Grecian simplicity was key, creating an atmosphere that felt warm and inviting. I added the finishing touches of candles and delicate gypsophila arranged in jam jars, creating a romantic, understated look that complemented the setting beautifully. We also designed, organised, and set up a personalised welcome sign, encouraging the guests to sign it throughout the day as a keepsake for Sammie and Justine; such a small but meaningful detail, and yet one that they absolutely adored.

As mentioned above, one of their most important requests was to have an entirely female-led wedding team, to help them feel supported in their same sex marriage here in Corfu. As an inclusive wedding planner here in Corfu, honouring this was incredibly important to me. Bringing together a team of independent women that reflected the couple’s values just adds an extra layer of meaning to the day, and created an environment that felt supportive, intentional, and empowering from start to finish. And as you can see, this was a wedding day that no-one will ever forget.

My little dream team, thank you all.

Their day began during their prep moments in their rooms of this incredible hotel:

An end to a dream day.

"I don’t even know where to start with this review. I’m so used to being in control and Janet has taught me to stand back and have faith and trust. This lady is beyond amazing. It’s like having a best friend who knows you better than you know yourself. What was meant to be a simple wedding was completely transformed by Janet’s personal touches. Everything I asked for was there and more. Always at the end of the phone when I needed her, Janet is kind, thoughtful, dedicated and just an all round beautiful lady inside and out. Thank you so much for all your time, kindness and thoughtfulness. There are genuinely not enough words to say how much we appreciate you (and your husband) xxx"
